 How to:  Measure your firebox

Fireplaces openings must be measured to 1/16 of an inch for accuracy. For custom-made screens or enclosures,

it could be a costly mistake to you, the customer.
Please use a TAPE MEASURE when measuring for better accuracy.

If you have an arched fireplace we will need the following measurements from you.

1.) Measure the width of the opening at the base.

2.) Measure from the base to the highest point at the top of the arch and finally,
3.) measure the sides from the base to just before where the arch starts.

* A card board template accompanying your measurements, (especially if your fireplaces has a stone front/face or is constructed
of stone!) would be ideal.   If you have an unusually shaped fireplace or rough field stone fireplace we can verify your measurements.
(Please call one of our stores for details, zones and pricing.)

* To make a good template you will need a large piece of cardboard, and a Sharpe.

*Cut a hole in the middle of the cardboard.  Hold flat against the outside opening of the fireplace.

With your sharpie trace all sides of the inner opening.  Before you remove the cardboard from in front of the

fireplace opening, on the cardboard that is facing you, write front. (very important)

Also right your name, address and phone number on the template.

An up front measuring fee, or deposit (if placing an order or purchasing a custom glass enclosure) .

This fee is based upon distance from our Hyannis location.

 MEASURING FOR FIREBACKS

measure the width of the BACK WALL floor of the firebox

Next, measure the height of the BACK WALL from the floor up to the bricks
before they start to angle back towards you, the damper and/or the chimney.
You might want to measure the depth of your firebox too. From the back of the firebox,
measure out to the front part of the firebox.

Do NOT include the hearth depth in your measurement.
