Pre manufactured Fire Pits
Outdoor living season has arrived! It’s important that you check your fire pits to make sure they are in safe working order.
Check the bottom of your brazer or burn bowl, for holes or wearing. Its wise to makes sure every season you put new silica aka beach
sand in the bowls. You can purchase beach sand from your local toy stores or hardware stores. Do not take it from your local beach, you are apt to get fined if you get caught doing so. Sand helps extend the life of the bowl of the fire pit from extreme heat and wear. When it comes to your fire pit screen,
make sure there are no tears or rips in the mesh. If they are tattered you should purchase a replacement screen.
When you do purchase a pre manufactured or portable fire pit:
Please remember to keep the manual, instructions and the like so that
you have the make, model and brand information for future reference.
Make sure you cover your fire pit with a waterproof tarp or cover for those rainy wet days when you are not
going to use the fire pit. Remember to never cover your fire pit when it is still warm or right after use.
Leave the spark screen on under the tarp or cover so that rain runs off the fire pit and does not collect in the bowl.
Water left in fire pits not only can shorten the life of the fire pit, but can also attract unwanted mosquitoes, other flying insects and bats.
Drilling a few very tiny holes in the bowl can also help water drainage issues for those rare occasions when water makes its way into
your fire pit.
Always keep your fire pit or fireplace tools inside a garage or shed when not in use.
Make sure you check with your town’s fire department or town hall for fire pit use codes, rules and permits before purchasing or
using your fire pit. These codes, rules & permits may change from year to year and from town to town.
Also checking with homeowners insurance agent is a wise idea as well.
Never for any reason put a fire pit, or chiminea on a wood surface, such as a decking or porch.
Having a designated area in the yard with gravel or cement patio block under them is a wise idea within reach of a hose.
Again please check with your town officials, and or fire departments for codes.
